Reed highlights improvements across many job sectors

Filed under: Recruitment General — Jonathan on March 12, 2012

Reed has recently revealed there have been improvements across many sectors in the recruitment market, including IT, with the number of jobs advertised showing growth last month. The recruitment specialists’ Job Index shows a 123 point improvement to 140 from January to last month with an increase in advertised job roles throughout the UK.

In addition, these figures show a 40 percent improvement on those recorded back in December 2009 when one of the lowest indexes was recorded. Sectors such as engineering, construction and science have experienced significant growth and this bodes well for job opportunities over the next few months.
Given the fragile economy, the MD at, Martin Warnes, commented that the finding were positive. He went on to say:

“A rise in new jobs to a two-year high is encouraging, especially as this growth has been spread across a wide range of employment sectors and in every UK region. Moreover, salaries have finally returned to the levels of late-2009 which may provide some relief to employees whose income has been squeezed in recent years.”

However Warnes did warn that the market is still recovering. In addition to Reed’s positive findings the Recruitment and Employment Confederation also revealed improvements recently with its findings that 84 percent of businesses are looking to continue to use temporary employees or increase their numbers.

Within IT, engineering and technology sectors there is still strong demand, which is good news for those seeking IT security jobs and risk management vacancies.
