Jobs market finding its stride

Filed under: Recruitment General — Stephanie on March 13, 2013

The most recent job index from Reed shows that the jobs market in the UK is continuing to improve after record growth. Therefore, anyone searching for risk management jobs or any other vacancies in their sector can expect more options at their disposal.

The highest monthly trends and conditions measure in UK job opportunities is currently at 155, which is the highest it has been since the launch of the index back in 2009. It is also a 10% increase over the previous highest, 141, in 2012.

Month on month, new employment opportunities growth in February stood at 12%, which was third in highest ever monthly surges recorded. Almost all sectors, 31 of 33, measured stronger than the previous month. Around 60% of sectors rose by over 10%, month by month. managing director, Martin Warnes, said:

“The latest Reed Job Index figures provide further confirmation of robust and continued growth in the employment market. The vast majority of sectors and regions are consistently offering more opportunities and we enter the busy spring recruitment period with some optimism.

“Notably, though salaries grew slightly over the past month, our latest figures confirm remuneration is falling in real terms, as recent Office for National Statistics figures have confirmed. So, whilst the recovery in the jobs market continues to give solid grounds for optimism, the situation for many families across the UK remains challenging.” compiles the Index by analysing trends in jobs advertisements from more than 10,000 UK recruiters.
