IT leading the way in job creation

Filed under: CISSP — Jonathan on December 26, 2012

The number one sector for recruitment in 2012 is IT, creating a staggering 1.1 million advertised jobs. This bodes well for job seekers looking for technology-based positions such as CISSP jobs and information security vacancies. The engineering sector looks likely to expand next year also. The data was provided from a job search site. Further data revealed that the UK demands for software developers and accountants have been high and that Stevenage, Aberdeen and London are at the top when it comes to the cities that pay the highest.

The research looked at more than 500,000 vacancies in order to reveal that IT, finance and engineering were the most impressive sectors in 2012, showing a six per cent increase in average salaries during the last six months. The domestic cleaning and maintenance sectors created the least number of jobs.

The co-founder of the firm conducting the study said:

“Because we list nearly every UK job ad in our search engine, we’re able to see how the employment market is performing right across the country. Based on the 2012 data, we expect unemployment to continue to fall in 2013 with technology & engineering sectors performing the strongest in the first half of the year.”

Clear strong areas have unfolded in the UK’s job market this year with Cambridge, Guildford and Aberdeen leading the way. The lowest competition is in Aberdeen with only 0.5 job seekers for every vacancy, yet also with the most average salary at £37,670 p.a.
