I.T. Issues tops poll of stressful office factors

Filed under: Cyber Security — Jonathan on May 26, 2012

Technical issues in the workplace that include internet and email failures were voted as the number one stressful conundrum in the office, says a poll.

EcigaretteDirect.co.uk conducted the survey by providing a list of situations and problems that were most likely to be the cause of stress in the office. More than 800 office-based workers were polled, and they were asked asked which one caused them to get worked up the most. Emails and internet break downs topped the poll with 31 per cent saying that it riled them up. This indicates just how crucial the internet is to businesses today, and underlines the importance of IT and cyber security jobs.

Coming in second was an unachievable workload, with 18 per cent recognising that there is insufficient hours in the day to complete tasks. Fourteen per cent cited poor commute as the part of work that caused them the most stress.

An EcigaretteDirect.co.uk spokesperson said:

“Many of us don’t realise how stressful the office environment can be as it just melts into the fabric of everyday life. However, it’s no surprise that internet malfunctions came top of the list.

“In today’s technology driven age so much of what we do is reliant on being online we often feel lost and frustrated without it.”

Perhaps surprisingly, a shortage of office equipment and a lack of tea and coffee didn’t appear high on the list with a mere one and two per cent, respectively, naming them as their number one stressful factor.
