City job vacancies on the riseFinancial service positions, such as compliance jobs, that suddenly became available in April climbed by 19 per cent from the previous month, taking the tally to 3,339. Despite this being a decline from April last year, it remains the highest figure since October in 2011 which saw 3,859 financial service jobs waiting to be filled. The data has been provided by the Morgan McKinley London Employment Monitor. The average amount of time it takes to fill positions in this sector, such as risk management vacancies, fell by 20 days to 47, with the average salary for these new positions rising by 2 per cent in April, from March, to £51,347. Morgan McKinley Chief Operations Manager, Andrew Evans, said:
However, as Mr. Evans continued to explain, in spite of the 19 per cent monthly increase, the key factor is that the overall number of job vacancies, whether compliance jobs or other such roles within the financial sector, is substantially lower than in previous years. The number of positions that became available in April of this year, compared to the same month last year, fell by 48 per cent.
